Guild Charter Empty
PostSubject: Guild Charter   Guild Charter EmptyMon 22 May - 18:42

The Darnassus Sentinels
Guild Charter

Purpose:

The Darnassus Sentinels is an organisation, headquartered in Darnassus, consisting of Kaldorei members, which exists to protect the Kaldorei homelands from enemy invasion and control; to support the Kaldorei and otherwise help them to thrive, both physically and spiritually.

OOC Charter : These rules are mandatory. If a guild member violates these rules then action, up to and including expulsion from the guild, will be taken if necessary.

Key Concepts: Role-play, Fair Play, Motivation and Enjoyment

Role-play (RP)

- Role-playing [speaking In Character (IC)] is strictly required on the following chat channels: guild (/g), yell (/y), and say (/s). Role-playing is optional in whisper (/w or /tell), party (/p), raid (/raid) and our private OOC channel. If you must write something in OOC in a channel where IC is required, enclose the OOC language in double parentheses ((…)).

- "Leetspeak", SMS language, smilies, etc., are forbidden in channels where IC is required. Try to avoid the use of abbreviations and acronyms, spell words out as your character would actually say them.

- RP is always a higher priority than levelling (exp) or honour (HK).

- For general OOC chat, please join our private channel. Speaking in character is optional in that channel, and marking language as OOC is unnecessary. If you leave the guild for any reason, also leave our OOC chat.

Fair Play

Fair Play is more important than Role Play. You must respect the others, the pleasure of others players, even hordies. (No corpse camping, no OOC insults…).

Special Note Regarding Corpse Camping:
The following policy on what constitutes corpse camping differs depending on location:

In Kaldorei Homelands: Within homelands (Teldrassil, Darkshore, Ashenvale, Warsong Gulch, Stonetalon Peak, Felwood?), you are permitted to stay and observe a recently killed Horde character to see if he resurrects. One resurrected, however, you must not attack first. Try to let him know that you will let him retreat with a /shoo emote. If the horde character either attacks or attempts to move deeper into the homeland instead of healing then hearthstoning out, or moving in the direction of leaving the homelands, then you may attack him again. If he retreats, then you may follow to make sure he leaves the homelands.

Elsewhere: If not in the Kaldorei homelands, then you must immediately leave the vicinity of a recently killed Horde character.

Motivation and Enjoyment

Being active in the guild is required:
- Read the forum regularly (at least every two days is recommended).
- Try to be present at guild events. If you are online during a guild event, you must be present at the event.
- Participation in organising and running the guild is highly encouraged.
- Officers must be very active. They have responsibilities and run the guild on a daily basis.
- If you are going to be off-line for over two weeks, or when an important guild event happens,
you should notify the guild by posting a message on the guild forums at:
General (OOC) :: OOC-Spam :: Absence
- If you are off-line for more than two weeks without notification then you will be expelled from the guild.

OOC quarrels must be resolved in private between the persons concerned.

Sharing Items
- An item that you don't need should always be offered first to online guild members who might need the item before selling it on the auction house or to a vendor. While it is not required to give the item to a guild member for free, that is always the most generous thing to do and is considered a donation to the guild. At the very least you should always give online guild members the first chance to purchase an item before it goes to auction or a vendor.

- Keep in mind that the more you do for your guild the stronger the guild it becomes and the more it is able to give back to you. What goes around comes around; kindness and generosity will always be rewarded eventually.

- We currently have no procedure for donating items or cash to the guild, i.e. there is no guild bank.

- If you choose not to donate the item to a guild member, then items that otherwise would be sold to a vendor should never be sold to other guild members for more than what the NPC vendors gives. Items that would otherwise go into auction should not be sold to other guild members for more than the intended opening price.

Add-ons
Check the guild forums for the add-ons that are currently recommended.

The Darnassus Sentinels Charter : IC charter. Violation of these rules will result in action taking place IC.

Chain of Command

The Temple and Barracks:

The Temple
- The Temple is the civil and spiritual part of the Darnassus Sentinels. It is the Temple which handles and plans all ceremonies, civil matters and events. It also organises and holds all Ceremonies.
- The leader of the Temple is the High Priest(ess).

The Barracks
- The Barracks is the military and largest part of the Darnassus Sentinels. The Barracks handle all military matters and events.
- The Barrack consists of Captains who each have their own area of expertise. Currently there are two... one in charge of PvE and one in charge of PvP.
- The leader of the Barracks is the Commander (who also has a certain amount of control over the Temple).

The Ranks:
The number in parentheses before each rank indicates the chain of command, the higher the number the more superiority.

Senior Officers

(7) Commander
- Leader of the Darnassus Sentinels. The one in charge of the Barracks, but also has the last word in most matters of the Temple as well.
- In charge of all Officers meetings.

(6) High Priest(ess)
- Leader of the Temple and second in command of the Darnassus Sentinels.
- Has the last word in all Civil matters and Events.
- In charge of all Ceremonies.

(5) Captain
- Second in command of the Barracks, but still answers to the High Priestess.
- There are multiple Captains, each having his/her own area of responsibility. The responsibility is defined by the type of activity, not specific members of the Barracks. The same as any other rank, the Captains have authority over all lower ranking members of the guild.
- Currently, we have Captain of the Army in charge of PvP activities, and Captain of the Rangers in charge of PvE activities.

(4) Council Member
- These are those who represent other parts of The Darnassus Sentinels, outside the Temple and Barracks.
Current Council Members:
- Arafina - Ambassador, in charge of all diplomatic matters with the other guilds, both Horde and Alliance. A responsibility of the Ambassador it to read and post messages on the realm forum, representing the Darnassus Sentinels.
- Arya - Ancient Commander, sits on the council
. Drakonis - Recruitment officer, in charge off all matters of recruitment.
- Elloa - Events master and in charge of the guild forum.

Junior Officers
(3) Elune Templar
- Sentinels who are Junior Officers of the Temple.
- Help in planning and hosting ceremonies, civil matters and events.

(3) Warden
- Sentinels who are the Junior Officers of the Barracks.

The Sentinels
(2) Sentinel
- Are the veterans of the Darnassus Sentinels.
- The Sentinels have passed a mentorship period and have been accepted at full members.
- To advance in rank, the Sentinel must choose between two ways: the Spiritual Way (The Temple) or the Military Way (The Barracks).

(1) Watcher
- The recently recruited members of the Darnassus Sentinels.
- The successful completion of a mentorship is required to rise in rank and be accepted as full members.
- Watchers are not considered full members until they become a Sentinel. They are not permitted to wear a guild tabard. When the mentor decides that her recruit is ready, the recruit will become a Sentinel during a special ceremony. At that time the mentor will also present her recruit with a guild tabard.

Note: For the purpose of determining the chain of command and the ranking Sentinel, members within the same rank will have superiority based on seniority, i.e. how long they have been of that rank. The ranking Sentinel, Officer, etc., is the one that is currently online that has the highest rank or seniority within the highest rank.

Class Advisors
In addition to the roles described above, there is a Junior Officer (or higher rank) that is the officially designated advisor for a particular class. Each class has one such designated advisor. It is the responsibility of the class advisor to give advice to other guild members of that class on tactics and other aspects of that class.
Current Class Advisors: (in alphabetical order)
Druid Advisor - Celestar (unofficially until he has rank of Junior Officer)
Hunter Advisor -
Priest Advisor -
Rogue Advisor -
Warrior Advisor -

Duties

The following are the duties of all guild members:

- Protection of the homelands of the Kaldorei, and the people, civilisation and culture of the Kaldorei.
- Follow the Chain of Command and obey their superiors.
- Respect the guild alliances.
- Be loyal and faithful. He must be helpful to his Brothers and Sisters (the Kaldorei).

Filling a Vacant Leadership Position

1) We take nominations for a candidate from the floor. This assures that the candidate has support from another. You cannot nominate yourself.

2) We see if someone else seconds the nomination. This assures that two people support the candidate. You cannot second your own nomination.

3) The candidate must accept or reject the nomination. This assures the candidate wants the position.

4) When all candidates are decided on, we take a vote to determine which candidate has the most support from the rest of the guild. Candidates also get a vote, and are allowed to vote for themselves. [Note: although it was decided on in the past that the candidates are not permitted to vote for themselves, this really makes no sense. Given that the candidates are full members of the guild, they should be permitted to have a vote and also be permitted to vote for the candidate that they feel is best for the leadership of the guild, even if that happens to be themselves].

Special Note Regarding Protection of Homelands:

If there is a general notification of an attack on a Kaldorei homeland (in World Defence), then the following procedure will be followed:

If there is uncertainty whether the local Sentinels (i.e the NPC guards) can handle the defence on their own or not, then the ranking Darnassus Sentinel will designate a guild member to go to the threatened location as a scout, who will then report back to the guild a description of the situation. It is then the discretion of the ranking officer whether or not a guild-wide call to arms will be made.

If a guild-wide call to arms is made, then all guild members, including Watchers, are required to appear for duty immediately at the threatened location and assist in the defence effort. Notwithstanding this, however, the following situations may mitigate this obligation:

1) It is at the discretion of the High Priestess or the ranking Elune Templar whether the members of the Temple are required to attend. In some cases there may be causes of a Spiritual nature that are more important than the call to arms, but only the ranking Templar may make that decision. Furthermore the High Priestess alone may veto any call to arms if she is guided to do so by Elune Herself. An example of such a cause might be a Holy Ceremony that is in progress.

2) If a guild member is already engaged in battle at a different front, e.g. a battleground, then that member is not required to appear for duty. Finally, if a guild member is currently in a party that is engaged in a quest or in a dungeon, then that member is not required to appear for duty until the current mission of that party is complete.

With the exception of the High Priestess' veto, these mitigating situations can be overridden by the ranking Sentinel if she does so explicitly, but this would only be done in the most dire of circumstance (for example if the Burning Legion were to return to Azeroth in force).

The Barracks, directed by the two Generals (PVE-PVP)

- Organisation of Patrol (1)
- Organisation of the protection of the Territories, both Kaldorei and those of our Allies (including Warsong Gulch, Arathi Basin and Alterac Valley)
- Organisation of Expedition
- Organisation of attacks on Horde camps

-The members of the Barracks must be ready to fight (defend) and immediately come when their superiors call for them.
-The members of the Barracks must be attentive and careful. When they see a problem, they immediately notify their Commander or Captain, or write a report (on the forum).

The Temple, directed by the High Priestess

- Organisation of Ceremonies
- Organisation of Charity Market
- Organisation of Spiritual Patrol (2)

- The Temple must work at all times for the protection of our civilisation and culture.
- She must share Elune's wisdom with the Kaldorei, and attend to their welfare.
- In battle, she gives courage, strength, and blessings to the soldiers.

Patrol
In a small group, the Barracks walk through the Kaldorei territories, protecting the land and their inhabitants.
- Disperse enemies. First by word, second by strength.
- Make the Law of the Kaldorei respected: no one is allowed to cut trees, kill peaceful animals, litter or otherwise make pollution ….

Spiritual Patrol
In a small group, the Templars walk through Kaldorei territories or towns of the Alliance.
- They offer help and charity to the elves.
- They share Elune’s wisdom through ministry.
- They attend to the welfare of the elves
- They help the Barracks if needed.

Mixed Patrol
Directed by a trusted Warden, the mixed patrol is composed of members from both the Military and Spiritual Way in important missions such as:
- Expeditions
- Protection of a Kaldorei City during enemy raids
- Survey Missions
-Assaults on horde areas, outposts and towns.

Eleystra is reading the charter, sometimes she is shaking her head because of some thoughts... or chapters... or something else.

"Sign this... and you will say you allow all this... dont sign... and you might be demoted. One way or the other... there is no reason in signing this chapter."

She turns around and leaves the guild building.

PostSubject: Re: Guild Charter   Guild Charter EmptyTue 23 May - 5:04

I had a long chat with Eleystra by the fire this night, trying to understand better where the disagreement about the charter lies.

It seems the problem lies in the Class Advisors. After speaking with Eleystra, I see her point. Basically, what it comes down to is that she feels that the class advisor role should (IC) be covered by the mentorship program. To introduce a separate Class Advisor role would weaken the mentor role, and she feels the idea of the mentorship program was to cover this need; the relationship between mentor and trainee would continue even after the mentorship was complete.

If the section on Class Advisors were to be removed from the charter, then the problem goes away. My suggestion is to scrap the idea of class advisors because there is disagreement about it and I don't think it is worth having a conflict over.

Ok, now I hope this won't get stuck now for another month while we sort out the Class Advisors issue. I guess we need to hear from Alyria what her opinion is on this controversy, since she started implementing the Advisors in a guild meeting. I'm hoping she will agree to strike that section from the charter -- at which point I will sign it.

PostSubject: Re: Guild Charter   Guild Charter EmptySat 17 Jun - 7:08

Alright, this guild charter is good, safe and sound, but now all we have to do is make sure that everyone follows it... im sorry i did not notice this post earlier.

OOC: ok, for a starter: I love this guild and the people involved, but we are kind of stuck in a moment here, this guild has been in the same tracks for months, and if something it has been going backwards.. Sad
We should focus on making this guild better.
And again i dont mean to be a bi%ch. i would just like to see the guild get bigger and stronger, RP and PvP / PvE wise.

Sentinels FTW! Very Happy

With the agreement of our recruitment officer Drakonis, little priest Sanrah is still confused with our attitude to horde and human, dwarf or gnomes. Are all hordies shameless? Are all our alliance really reliable?

However, satisfying with such a wonderful guild charter, the priest writes down her name happily: Sanrah.

These are the rules of the Sentinels, you can choose not to agree with them, but you have to follow them. This is an army, not like the house of nobles in the human lands, where they sit down and discuss things.
